Ditch the Workout and join the Zumba PARTY!

Have you tried a Zumba class yet?  In January 2010 I visited my local gym and noticed a Zumba class was being offered.  Not knowing what it was, I peeked into the classroom to see a lot of women smiling, laughing, dancing and sweating to some great music.  It looked like a lot more fun than the boring treadmill routine I was about to endure.  I decided to give Zumba a try and was hooked immediately! 

Zumba, as it turns out, is a fun, exhilarating, calorie-burning workout with latin rhythms and easy-to-follow dance moves.   It makes no difference if you know the dance steps when you attend a class because the routines are very easy to pick up as you go along.  And the music will most likely be familiar to you, making it easy to anticipate the next move.

Reflecting on my Zumba workouts so far this year, I realize there are many things that finally keep me coming back to the gym – the many friends I’ve made, the motivating instructors challenging me to finish each song strong, the healthy and exhausted feeling I have after each class, better fitting clothes, and of course the fun party atmosphere. 

If exercise is on your to-do list at all, I encourage you to “Ditch the Workout and join the Zumba Party!”
